FAQ

Straight answers. What Sarge is, how the coaching works, where your data lives, and what happens if you lose your phone.

The basics

What is this?

An AI drill-sergeant fitness coach. You log what you eat, lift, and sleep by talking to him — Sarge tracks it, reacts to it, and holds you accountable. No spreadsheets, no judgment-free coddling. Show up and he works with you; ghost him and you'll hear about it.

Who is this for?

People who want a 24/7 coach for their overall health picture — one that values your privacy.

How do I track things?

Talk to him like a person. "Eggs and oats, ran 3 miles, slept 7 hours" — Sarge turns it into structured logs and shows you a card to confirm before anything's saved. Or tap a saved favorite for one-tap logging. No wearables to sync, no forms.

What's Tracking, and why do I start there?

You start in Tracking: log everything, Sarge reacts, you learn your patterns — no fixed goal, and his mood tracks you showing up, not whether you hit targets. It's a complete mode; stay as long as you like. It's where everyone starts so Sarge can read you before you commit to anything.

What's a Mission, and how do I start one?

When you want to chase a specific goal, take on a Mission from the Mission tab — and there Sarge holds you to it (the easygoing Tracking version of him goes away). Three to choose:

  • Weight Loss — drop fat, hold muscle; he watches calories and the scale.
  • Build Strength — lift more than last time; he watches your lifts and protein.
  • Boot Camp — total lifestyle reform; everything, every day.

What's the "respect" thing?

Sarge's attitude isn't random — it's a scoring engine reacting to your real data. Respect is earned by doing the work (eat / sleep / train), not by asking for it. You start at the bottom and climb. You can't fake it or buy it.

Does he write my workouts?

Yes — tap Train and he builds a session from your equipment, style, schedule, and any injuries you've logged. Tell him you've got a bad shoulder and he programs around it.

Do I need to tap the Train button, or can I do my own workouts?

The Train button is completely optional. Run your own routine and Sarge will credit and coach it all the same.

Same for the Eat button?

Yes. Hit it for meal ideas only when you want Sarge's input.

What does he actually track?

Meals, workouts, sleep, weigh-ins, measurements, steps, water, supplements, health events — plus a private notebook of what makes you tick.

Your data

Where does my data live?

On your device. Your meals, workouts, weigh-ins, Sarge's notebook — all in your phone's local storage, not on our servers.

Can you read my data or my chats?

No. Your records never leave your device. Your chats pass through our server only to reach the AI, which runs inside attested confidential-compute enclaves — the operator can't see in, nothing is retained, nothing trains a model. We keep no copy.

What's the 12-word backup?

Optional. If you want a backup, Sarge keeps an encrypted copy of your logs sealed with a 12-word recovery phrase — the same BIP-39 standard as a Bitcoin wallet. We store the encrypted bytes and can't read, link, or decrypt them. Hold the words, you hold the only key. Lose them, and not even we can recover it.

What's the difference between the 12-word backup and the file download?

Nothing but the container — they're the same key in two formats. During backup setup you choose: write down the 12 words, or download a small recovery file that holds those same words. Either one restores everything. Treat the file like the secret it is — anyone holding it can restore your data. (Different thing entirely: Settings → Export Data, which gives you a readable copy of your logs — that's an export, not a recovery key.)

Do I need an account?

No. No email, no password, no login. Nothing to breach, sell, or subpoena.

Can I use it on more than one device?

It's built for one device at a time — your data lives on the device you use, so it doesn't automatically sync across phones or computers. To move to a new device, restore from your 12-word backup. (Automatic multi-device sync isn't here yet.)

What if I clear my browser or lose my phone?

If you set up the 12-word backup, restore it on the new device with those words and you're back. If you didn't, the data lived only on that device — so set the backup up early. Sarge nudges you.

Practical

Do I have to install an app?

There's no app store and nothing to download — Sarge installs to your home screen straight from the browser, and on mobile you'll be walked through it. Installing isn't strictly required, but it's strongly encouraged: phones treat a plain browser tab's storage as disposable and can quietly delete it after a stretch of non-use, while an installed app's data is protected. Your logs live on your device — install so your operating system treats them that way.

Does it work offline?

Your logs and history live on-device, so the app and your data work offline. Talking to Sarge (the AI part) needs a connection.

Is this medical or nutritional advice?

No. Sarge is a fitness coach, not a doctor or dietitian. Nothing here is medical advice — see a professional for medical, dietary, or health decisions.
