Terms of Service

The rules of using Sarge. Plain English. No 80-page legalese, no buried clauses, no auto-renewing dark patterns.

Last updated 2026-06-12

Quick version

  • You must be 18 or older to use Sarge.
  • Sarge is AI fitness coaching, not medical advice. Talk to a doctor before starting any exercise or nutrition program.
  • This is beta software. Things will break. Don't run anything irreplaceable through Sarge that you wouldn't run through any other beta app.
  • No email, no name, no password — your access is a random account number. Beta access is gated by an invitation code.
  • Don't try to break the system, harass others, or scrape data. We'll revoke beta access if you do.
  • Currently free. When pricing launches, these terms will update; nothing retroactive.

Who can use Sarge

Sarge is for users 18 and over. By using the app, you confirm you're at least 18 years old. If you're not, you can't use Sarge — there are good apps for younger users; this isn't one of them.

What Sarge is, what Sarge isn't

Sarge is an AI told to act like a drill sergeant. If you need a safe space, this isn't it.

The app provides AI-generated fitness coaching for informational purposes only. Calorie and macro targets influence Sarge's responses and coaching feedback — they are not medical or nutritional prescriptions. Sarge is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Consult a physician before starting any exercise or nutrition program.

By using Sarge, you acknowledge that all coaching is AI-generated and you assume full responsibility for your own health decisions.

Sarge is not a HIPAA-covered entity, not integrated with one, and makes no claims of HIPAA compliance. It is a consumer fitness app, not a medical device or service.

Beta status

Sarge is in beta. That means:

  • Things break. Features change. Bugs ship.
  • Data could be lost — we work to prevent it (see Privacy for how), but offer no guarantee during the beta period.
  • The service may be modified, paused, or discontinued without notice.
  • What's here today may not be here next week, and what's working today may not work tomorrow.

If beta-tier reliability isn't acceptable to you, wait for a stable release.

Your access

No email collection, no name, no password. You're identified by a random account number issued when you first open the app — it carries no personal information and is yours to save. Beta access is gated by a one-time invitation code.

We can rate-limit or revoke beta access at our discretion — typically only in response to abuse (system-compromise attempts, harassment, automated scraping, etc.). If we revoke access, we'll honor your data export and deletion rights as described in Privacy.

Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Attempt to compromise Sarge's systems, the enclave attestation, or other users' data
  • Use automated tools to bulk-extract content or query the API outside of normal in-app use
  • Use Sarge to harass other people, distribute illegal content, or break the law
  • Reverse-engineer protected components for malicious purposes (security research is welcome — see Vulnerability disclosure below)

Do:

  • Use Sarge for your own personal fitness coaching as intended
  • Report bugs and vulnerabilities responsibly to sarge@sarge.fitness

Pricing

Sarge is currently free during the beta period. When paid tiers launch, these terms will be updated to reflect pricing, payment methods, and refund policy. We will not retroactively charge for usage from the beta period.

Termination

You can stop using Sarge at any time. Profile → ⚙ Settings → 🗑️ Delete data wipes your local data, your server backup, or both — your call.

We can stop offering Sarge at any time. If we discontinue the service, we'll provide reasonable notice through News and within the app, and we'll honor your data export rights for as long as the service is reachable.

Vulnerability disclosure

If you find a security issue — anything from a privacy leak to an attestation bypass — email sarge@sarge.fitness with details. We'll respond, fix it, and credit you publicly if you'd like.

Don't publish the issue before we've had a chance to fix it. Don't use it to access other users' data. Don't run automated mass-scanning against the production service. Beyond that, security research is welcome.

Disclaimers and limits

Sarge is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee:

  • That AI-generated coaching is accurate, complete, or appropriate for your situation
  • That the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure against every conceivable threat
  • That any specific feature will continue to exist in future versions

Use of Sarge is at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from your use of Sarge is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim — which, during beta, is $0.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these kinds of disclaimers; in those places, the limits apply only to the extent allowed by local law.

Changes to these terms

We'll update this page as Sarge evolves. Material changes (pricing, scope of service, account model) will be noted in News. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Sarge after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes that can't be resolved by direct contact will be handled in the appropriate courts of the jurisdiction where Sarge is operated.

This section will be made specific (state-level governing law, dispute mechanism) before paid tiers launch.
